Best Guide from Furniture Movers

As for life stressors, moving is high on the list. Yes, it can be a daunting process, but with a little preparation and the right approach, you shouldn’t despair. We asked some professional furniture movers to share their best tips for relieving pain on the move so you can feed yourself — and look forward to the next chapter.

1. ALWAYS START EARLY
If you decide to move, give yourself four to six weeks to set up. First order your collection company and arrange for early delivery of boxes and packaging materials. Once you have half an hour, pack up the things you don’t need on a regular basis.

2. GET OLD DECLARATIONS
When you pack for travel, you work on every item in your home. Don’t miss the chance for a complete cleaning. Ask yourself: will this element add value to the next stage of life? Go through room by room, including the garage. Organize items into three categories — save, save and throw away. Make sure the kids are on the plane and organize your stuff too.

3. PACKING WEIGHT
Pack light items like clothes, bedding, and toys in the largest boxes and heavy items like cutlery and books in smaller boxes, with the heaviest items at the bottom. Clearly mark “fragile” items. In your packaging strategy, label boxes by room and category — this makes unloading at the other end easier and faster. Cardboard boxes with labels on the sides instead of the top, so you can read the contents as you stack them. Glue everything together with a roller gun — this is much faster than scissors. Pack valuables such as jewelry and important documents separately and bring your own.

4. AUTHOR YOUR PACKING
When you are pressed for time and budget, contact a packing professional. They are trained and can ensure the safe transport of goods. You can also set up a dismantling service for the other end. Prices vary, but in terms of time, professionals can usually build a three-bedroom house in a day. They also provide all packaging equipment, from balloon packaging rolls to adhesive tape rolls and foam shock absorbers for the safe transport of lights and furniture.

5. ACCELERATE THE PROCESS
There are several things you can do to streamline the moving process. First, schedule a pre-inspection check so the wiper can see if extra work is needed on heavy items or if it needs to make access difficult. Inspections also help them estimate what size truck they need during the day. Also think about what you want to bring yourself. If you receive your new house keys before your moving day and they are relatively close, you may be surprised at what you can provide. Before the transfer officer arrives on the day of the move, unload all beds and tables, pack and close boxes, and turn off all electrical appliances.
